Beginnings Program
Beginnings Program Directress - Mrs. Box
Michele Box joined our staff in 2010 as we introduced the newly developed Beginnings Program. Michele completed her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Strayer University, Washington, D.C. and her Montessori Infant and Toddler certification from the Center for Montessori Teacher Education in New York. She also holds a current Maryland Child Care Credential at Level 6 and is working on National Accreditation. Michele has 12 years of experience in a Montessori school where she developed and directed the Infant and Toddler program. She completed the academic portion of the Primary Teacher training at the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies in Silver Spring, MD.
Beginnings Program Aide - Mrs. Geier
After graduating from South Carroll High School, Brady Geier went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Gerontology from California University. She holds an AA degree from Strayer University in Business Administration and Accounting. Prior to joining the MSW staff, Brady spent five years as a substitute teacher in the Carroll County Public Schools system.
Primary Program
Primary Program Directresses - Mrs. Yost and Ms. Roth
Miwon Yost received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from Ehwa Women's University in Seoul, Korea and her Montessori Certification from AERCO in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She joined the Primary program as a directress in 1985.
Marliese Roth has a wealth of experience teaching children and adults with a wide range of abilities in a variety of settings. She graduated from Union Institute and UIniversity in Montpelier, Vermont, from which she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis on Psychology and Human Development. She earned her Early Childhhold Montessori Certification from the Institute for Advance Montessori Studies, where she is employed as Montessori teacher educator, a role in which she has served concurrently with her role as a Primary guide since 2000.
Primary Program Aides - Mrs. Donaldson and Ms. Campbell
The Primary aides bring over 32 years combined Montessori experience to the Primary classrooms. Linda Donaldson joined the staff in 1990. She has been Mrs. Yost's aide since 1991. Kathy Campbell first joined the staff at the Montessori School of Westminster in 1997 and has been a classroom aide for more than ten years.
Lower Elementary Program
Lower Elementary Program Directresses - Ms. Welsh and Ms. Quinn
Lauren Welsh first came to the school as a student in the Primary program and stayed through the Lower Elementary program. She graduated from Juniata College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Education. Lauren then joined the staff in 2007 as a Lower Elementary directress.
Tres Quinn received her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Math Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She taught junior and senior high school math in Pittsburgh and Towson. Tres joined the staff of the Montessori School of Westminster in 2002 as Mrs. Burke's Primary aide and is now a directress in Lower Elementary.
Tres and Lauren took their Montessori Elementary 1 Certification at the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies.
Lower Elementary Program Aides - Mrs. Jersild and Mrs. Weller
Kim Jersild joined the Montessori School of Westminster in 2000. Kim formerly served as senior staff in our After School Care program and has worked as an aide in our Middle School program. Before joining MSW, KIm worked at Carroll County General Hospital for 13 years.
Wanda Weller is recently retired from Carroll County Public Schools and brings 32 years of experience to our Lower Elementary program as a classroom assistant.
Upper Elementary Program
Upper Elementary Program Directresses - Ms. Malcolm and Ms. Bodden
Gretchen Malcolm has been involved in Montessori education for 24 years. She joined the staff of the Montessori School of Westminster in 2001. Gretchen graduated from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Maryland, with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She later received her Master's degree in Curriculum Development from Cleveland State University. Gretchen received her Montessori Certification from Cleveland Montessori Institute in Cleveland Ohio.
Amanda Bodden completed her undergraduate education at Western Maryland College with degrees in Art, Elementary Education, and Psychology. She taught for three years in the Carroll County Public School System. Amanda became an MSW directress in 1998. Amanda joined Upper Elementary in 2011. She took her entire Montessori training (El I and El II) at the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies.
Upper Elementary Program Aides - Mrs. Vance, Mrs. Neudecker and Mrs. Adkins
Victoria Neudecker graduated from Mount St. Mary's with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a minor in Communication. She now joins MSW as Upper Elementary Program Aide.
Laura Adkins has joined the classroom as Mrs. Bodden’s aide in the morning from 8:00 – 11:30 AM. Laura’s daughter, Madeline, joined the school this year in the Beginnings program so Laura has had the opportunity to do some substituting in the classrooms as well as in the office over the past couple of months. Laura has over 20 years experience in early childhood education which includes operating daycare centers and before- and after-school daycare programs.
Middle School
Middle School Directress - Mrs. Rill
Lisa Rill will begin her eleventh year with MSW as the Middle School directress. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Towson University and a Master's degree in Montessori Integrative Learning with an emphasis on Adolescent Education from Endicott College. She received her Secondary Montessori Certification from the Houston Montessori Center.
